Suthira Taychakhoonavudh, Ph.D. co-founded Baiya Phytopharm in 2018. Her doctoral research on high-cost medicine allowed her to recognize that in many countries, including Thailand, high-cost medication is unapproachable by many communities. This became her main motivation, to create a company that strives in achieving the impossible within the pharmaceutical industry. Her collaboration with Dr. Waranyoo Phoolcharoen led them to create a platform that aims to provide access to high quality and affordable medication to more people throughout Asia and the world. Dr. Taychakhoonavudh’ s goal with Baiya Phytopharm is to strengthen the health security for underserved and disadvantaged populations and to put an end to this inequality.

Waranyoo Phoolcharoen, Ph.D.
Chief Technical Officer and Co-founder

Waranyoo Phoolcharoen, Ph.D. co-founded Baiya Phytopharm in 2018 and created a platform for new discoveries in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Through Baiya Phytopharm, she is pursuing her passion for research on molecular pharming and making a difference to Thailand’s scientific community. Waranyoo recognizes advantages and resources in Thailand and throughout Asia to create a path for the development of plant-based technology. She nurtures a strong environment of unity and teamwork, while building a team of solution seekers who are comfortable in sharing constructive feedback. She continues to lead and support Baiya Phytopharm members as we grow as individuals and as a team. 

Waranyoo graduated in Biochemistry from Chulalongkorn University and in Molecular Biology from Mahidol University. She holds a Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology from Arizona State University.

Jompong Champaiboon
Chief Operating Officer

Jompong Champaiboon co-founded Baiya Phytopharm in 2018 with a vision to create health security and promote pharmaceutical endeavors in Thailand. He oversees the business management and the operations of Baiya Phytopharm. His engineer-oriented mindset recognized the possibility of expanding the scale of production. With his background in engineering, Jompong became the intermediary between the research team, led by Dr. Waranyoo Phoolcharoen, and the structural designers, thereby creating a scalable manufacturing facility. He describes the origin of Baiya Phytopharm with a question, “Why can’t we do it?” which became the inspiration and the foundation of Baiya Phytopharm’ s philosophy of persistence. He continues the effort to eradicate roadblocks in the pharmaceutical industry in Asia. 

Jompong is a graduate from Chulalongkorn University in the Faculty of Engineering. With diverse expertise and one of the first members of Baiya Phytopharm, Jompong aims to make a change for Thailand’s biopharmaceutical industry while growing the company to its maximum potential.

Tricia Schumann
Chief Investment Officer

Tricia Schumann is a Harvard Business School alumna, was named a “30 Women to Watch” by Utah Business Magazine and is a Woman Tech Council finalist and a 2022 recipient of Top 50 Women in Finance in the U.S. for her work in fundraising. She serves on the boards of the hospital, Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, Blu Biotech, HEROIC Cybersecurity, Orriant, and Junior Achievement. With her passion for making healthcare affordable and accessible, she advises Baiya Phytopharm to seek solutions for and improve global healthcare. Tricia leverages her 15-year experience and network in management and hyper-growth businesses in U.S. healthcare industry to accelerate Baiya Phytopharm’ s growth.

Travis Ready
Regulatory Affairs- Advisor

Travis Ready earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Mercer University, Atlanta, GA, in 2000. Under the tutelage of Joga Gobburu PhD, he earned his Master’s in Pharmacometrics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD, in 2019. He has extensive experience in clinical inpatient pharmacy, real-world data analytics, pharmacometrics and clinical pharmacology. Prior to joining Baiya Phytopharm, he worked for the US Food and Drug Administration for over 10 years specializing in areas of real-world data analytics and clinical pharmacology in rare diseases. His interests include adult to pediatric dose extrapolations, immunogenicity characteristics of large molecules, and biomarker development.

Kaewta Rattanapisit, Ph.D.
Research & Development Manager

Since January 2021, Kaewta joined Baiya Phytopharm as R&D manager to oversee the introduction of newly created products using Baiya Phytopharm’ s plant-based technology. She embraces her love for laboratory work as she discovered her interest in genetics and biotechnology throughout her academic years. While producing various proteins for further research, her other goal is to produce future researchers and scientists who are able to push the scientific field forward.

Achievement: Kaewta has successfully developed more than 100 constructs of new recombinant molecular proteins in biologics using the BaiyaPharming™ technology platform through continuous R&D. These advancements can lead to clinical trials and marketing. Her project highlights include Baiya SARSCoV-2, Growth Factor, Secretory IgA, Cytokine, and Cytokine-Receptor, cancer constructs such as Anti-PD1 and Anti-PDL1, Anti-fungi, Anti-IgE, and many others.

Peepattra Wantanasiri, PhD
Clinical Project Manager

• Peepattra is a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, at Chulalongkorn University. After working at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, she continued her studies in the field of pharmaceutical care. Her previous experience at a clinical research center allows her to contribute her first-hand knowledge of conducting clinical trials to Baiya Phytopharm’ s mission.

• Peepattra joined Baiya Phytopharm since September 2021, overseeing the clinical trials of the Baiya SARS-CoV-2 Vax 1 vaccine. As the leader of the clinical research team, she embraces the challenges of adjusting to the unknown situations that may occur during the research process. Her collaboration with various organizations sets up the clinical trial that began the terminating step of Baiya Phytopharm’ s first endeavor.

Achievement: Peepattra has successfully managed and executed clinical trials for Baiya SARS-CoV-2, resulting in completion of all milestones within the allocated budget and timeline. Peepattra provided diligent oversight of clinical monitoring to ensure data integrity, patient safety, and adherence to protocol, thereby securing regulatory compliance throughout all trials. This approach ultimately resulted in the successful completion of clinical trial operation for collective data in accordance with study objectives, leading to further submission of IND regulatory application.

Panithi Saktrakulkla, PhD
Regulatory Affairs Manager

• Panithi is a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Chulalongkorn University and continued his graduate studies in synthetic chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Toxicology from the University of Iowa. Before Baiya Phytopharm, Panithi held various positions in pharmaceutical production at V.S. Pharma, Biopharma, and Mega Life Sciences.

• As regulatory affairs, Panithi is responsible for ensuring that our products meet regulatory standards and compliance requirements set by government agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He is responsible for obtaining regulatory approval for new drug formulations, and working on the regulatory aspects of developing and manufacturing biological products.

• Panithi has strong analytical skills, these are crucial for understanding of scientific principles, regulations and assessing their impact on product development and marketing strategies, interpreting complex regulations and an ability to communicate complex information effectively. He serves as the bridge between scientific research, legal compliance, and public safety work closely with research and development teams, providing scientific expertise to support product development and clinical trials with his ability to communicate.

Achievement: Panithi accomplished in the preparation of regulatory dossiers, coordinated with various departments, including clinical research, legal affairs, quality assurance, production, and research and development to organize regulatory information, data, documents, and other information. This collaborative effort resulted in successfully submitted regulatory filings within specified timelines to support clinical trials activities.

Kitti Jirananon
Chief Executive Officer and Plant Director

• Kitti joined Baiya Phytopharm in May 2021 as the Plant Manager, bringing over a decade of experience in pharmaceutical production. He became a member of the Baiya Phytopharm team during the construction of the GMP manufacturing facility, building the system for production. With Experience in the construction of GMP manufacturing facility, he helped overturn Baiya Phytopharm from a small lab to a growing pharmaceutical manufacturer, adding liveliness to a previously empty facility. He describes his role as the jigsaw puzzle that puts different departments together in order to push the production forward. Kitti embraces different backgrounds of the manufacturing team while allowing them to apply their knowledge in the most effective way.

• As a Chief Executive Officer of MP Solution, with an open-minded approach and a determination to seek solutions, Kitti believes that every challenge presents an opportunity for resolution. His primary objective is to enhance pharmaceutical production at MP Solution, striving for its utmost optimization and advancement.

Panithi Saktrakulkla, PhD
Quality Control Manager

• Panithi joined Baiya Phytopharm in January 2021 as the Quality Control Manager, responsible for ensuring consistency in product safety and quality, he applies the lessons he learned from his academic advisor to his work, encouraging unconventional ways of thinking. Panithi leads his team to prioritize the thought process in the progression of their work, which enables them to bring depth to their scientific justification and reasoning. He modifies his experience in human toxicology and environmental engineering to bring forth a different perspective to Baiya Phytopharm.

Achievement: Panithi has completed necessary analytical methods validation which serves as a definitive means to demonstrate the suitability of an analytical procedure for clinical trial products. Thorough validation ensures that the selected analytical method achieves the required levels of precision and accuracy to preserve the safety and efficacy of drug product. Additionally, he has effectively implemented an inspection procedure throughout the processes, ensuring that every task is shipped out on time and in accordance with all specifications.

Kotchaporn Jirananon
Quality Assurance Manager

• Kotchaporn oversees the quality system of Baiya Phytopharm’ s products throughout the manufacturing process while fostering development, teamwork, and growth mindset within the QA. Kotchaporn joined Baiya Phytopharm in February 202, bringing more than 12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industries. Her leadership allows the younger generation to become open-minded and resilient in their roles. Her goal is to continuously develop the quality management system and working process for the company and improve product quality, safety and efficacy to excel as Thailand’s model for vaccine development and production companies. 

Achievement: Kotchaporn successfully established a quality management system aligned with overall development and product releases, leading to improved work efficiency and a 15% reduction in deviation in manufacturing and supporting processes. Kotchaporn developed and coordinated efficient systems, resulting in obtaining GMDP certificate compliance from the Thai FDA and ISO 9001:2015 certification for Plants Cultivation, Seed Harvest, and Distribution.

Kittinop Kittirotruji
Chief Executive Officer

• Kittinop joined Baiya Phytopharm in July 2019, as one of the first five members of the team. He helped lay the groundwork for the new startup company, watching the growth of Baiya Phytopharm which expanded from a small Research & Development laboratory to becoming a manufacturing company.

• He describes the origin of Baiya Phytopharm as the sandbox, a place to try various methods of operation in finding the foundation. With a background in Pharmaceutical Care, Baiya Phytopharm has awakened the power of resilience inside himself through the challenges of overcoming obstacles.

• He became Chief Executive Officer of BGF Plantrix after spin-off from Baiya Phytopharm with a team of experts in plant-based solutions and sustainable growth to develop the BGF platform by using plants as the manufacturer to produce growth factors for various markets, including cultivated meat and cosmetics raw materials, Kittinop commit to constantly exploring new ways to do this through the use of innovative plant-based solutions, and strive to remain at the forefront of industry trends and advancements.
